We are beginning a new sermon series this coming Sunday based on the books, Experiencing God and Seven Realities for Experiencing God. Both books by Co-authors Henry and Richard Blackaby layout a model for how we can experience God. Their model is based on seven principles. So, for the next seven weeks we’ll look at a key principle each week to help us in the process of knowing God, especially based on the stories of biblical heroes like Abraham and Moses from the Old Testament. Here are the seven principles that the Blackaby’s articulate that we’ll use as a starting point for each message.
God is always at work.
God is pursuing a loving relationship with us.
God is inviting us to join his work.
God speaks by the Holy Spirit through prayer, the Bible and circumstances.
God’s invitation to work with him will lead us to a crisis of faith.
We will need to make adjustments if we are going to join God in what God is doing.
God is known by obedience and then he accomplishes his work through us.
The seven realities/principles for experiencing God are not intended to be used in a rigid way to guarantee success. The seven realities/principles are intended as a reflection of the common experiences we find in how God worked and moved according to stories from the Bible and experiences today. So, if you have question like how can I know God’s will for my life or where is God wanting to use me next, this series can give you some food for your soul to be guided and nurtured.
