Serendipity

Serendipity (noun): the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.

The Serendipity Sunday School Class is a discussion-centered learning experience that lives up to its name almost every time the class gathers. We have various study topics decided upon by the class members and we learn through class discussion. This is definitely not a lecture class. Class members are of multiple generations.  Some are single, some are married. Some are parents of pre-school children, some are grandparents of pre-school children. No matter – this is a class for the young and the young at heart. This is a class which:

  • relates well to each other,
  • agrees to disagree,
  • takes joy in each others celebrations,
  • shares each others concerns and sorrows,
  • laughs together, and
  • learns from each other.

We have studied books of the Bible (such as Romans, Philippians, Judges, and Revelation), we have used study aids (including the Purpose Driven Life Series and the Song of Solomon video Series), and discuss topics we generate ourselves (such as questions of the faith, what does it mean to be a Disciple, and the theology of Christianity). We have tried to learn about other religions.  We share our perceptions, our thoughts, the way God is speaking to us through a particular scripture. We hear things from others that we would not have thought of ourselves. God speaks to each of us though the other class members. We discuss, we talk, we listen, we disagree (respectfully!), we learn.

Come join us. We’d love to have you. If you think you don’t fit any of the things described here, we’d love to have you even more. We’ll learn something from you! And, hopefully, you will learn from us and be blessed.
